The digital spotlight sharpens as Shytoshi Kusama, the visionary behind Shiba Inu, highlights the Shib Identity system’s crucial role within the Shib Network State.
This ambitious endeavor, revealed during the latest installment of Kusama’s limited-edition podcast titled “Meme Mania and the 36 Chambers of Tech,” seeks to redefine the very fabric of the internet. Kusama emphasized that the Shib Identity System is designed to move beyond simple financial applications and instead provides a complete method of identification for users on the system.
“So for us,” Kusama said, “we have Shib identity system. It is a decentralized identity system. And it allows you to not just hold your keys financially, but to hold your data as well, and decide when to sell your data to others, when to share your data with others.”
The Power of On-Chain Credentials in the Shib Identity System
The system leverages blockchain technology to create on-chain credentials, establishing verifiable proof of identity that goes well beyond traditional methods. Kusama explained, “Let’s say you are an influencer… before they do in our system, you can give them a credential. This credential identifies them as a KOL for you specifically…”
This offers a glimpse into just one of the possible use cases, highlighting how a user can be identified in a specific way. The system, referred to as the “Aviation Service” by Kaal Dhairya, Shiba Inu’s tech wizard, allows a user to provide verifiable digital proof of who they are. This approach shifts the power of identification to the user, and the platforms they use.
Real-World Applications of the Shib Identity System and the Shib Name Service
The implications of the Shib Identity System are wide ranging and extend beyond simply identifying influencers. The decentralized system is intended to be highly flexible and can be utilized in a multitude of different fields and for a multitude of different purposes, ranging from educational institutions issuing diplomas, to workplaces providing digital access cards, and even governments issuing digital passports.
As Kusama noted, “Having that credential in your wallet now allows you to enter the building. These type of credentials on chain and also those that can be revoked, are extremely powerful in the long-term play that we are building.”
The Shib Name Service (SNS) is also a part of this ecosystem, allowing users to create their own decentralized identity, tied to their wallet, in the name.shib format. Following ICANN approval, this could even be used like a normal .com or .org domain, making the system more powerful and versatile.
Secure Architecture and FHE Integration
The system’s architecture relies upon smart contracts and verifiable data to ensure that all credentials are secure and free from tampering. This, combined with Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE), means that not only will the system be secure, but that all user data will be private.
These pieces of technology, work together to give users control over their identities and will allow them to maintain their anonymity while interacting with the world. The new Shib Network State seeks to be a fully integrated system that will be able to connect all aspects of digital life.
Kusama’s spotlight on the Shib Identity System, is not merely an incremental step, but a giant leap forward for the Shiba Inu ecosystem and its ambitions for the Shib Network State. The tech industry is waiting to see how this technology develops and what lasting impact it will have on the future of the internet.
